Mission and Objectives

The 11th Asian Conference on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology – AsiaNANO 2024 – will be held at IIT Madras, Chennai, India, during September 23-25, 2024. This conference is jointly organized by IITM along with the Asian Research Network, Asian Young Nanoscientists Forum, and Asian Science and Technology Innovation Forum. The main objective of this conference is to provide a vibrant platform for Asian scientists working in the field of nanoscience and nanotechnology, to create effective networks among the Asian universities, institutions and companies and to promote inter-country and interdisciplinary collaborations. On the second day of the conference, there will be a satellite meeting of the 3rd Asian Young Nanoscientists Forum (AYNF 2024), dedicated to the presentations of young researchers.

This conference will be a nucleation point for Asian nanoscientists to co-operate and collaborate with each other, to form new friendships and grow their network from diverse fields within the nano-community and within their continental home. This provides a fertile space for their growth, enriching their experiences in a short span of three days, to be continued in their scientific endeavours later on.

The sessions include important, and economically relevant topics in the current age of science and technology.

History of AsiaNANO: A Legacy of Innovation and Collaboration

AsiaNANO  as a new symposium was organized by the Asian Symposium on Organized Molecular Films (ASOMF). It was held three times in Tsukuba, Japan (1996), Beijing (1998), and Seoul (2000).

Since its inaugural session in Tokyo in 2002, the AsiaNANO conference has played a pivotal role in propelling nanotechnology research across Asia. The AsiaNANO conference has made its mark in several major Asian cities: Beijing, China (2004); Busan, Korea (2006); Singapore (2008); Tokyo, Japan (2010); Lijiang, China (2012); Jeju, Korea (2014); Sapporo, Japan (2016); and Qingdao, China (2018), Busan, Korea (2022), reflecting the growing importance and collaboration within the region’s scientific community.

AsiaNANO 2024 marks a significant chapter as it will be hosted in India for the first time, underscoring the nation’s rising prominence in nanoscience. This conference series has been instrumental in providing a dynamic platform for Asian scientists to present their latest research, discuss technological advancements, and foster partnerships. The primary aim is to enhance scientific and technological interactions among Asian countries, which are crucial in addressing the global challenges posed by our rapidly changing world.

The evolution of the AsiaNANO conferences mirrors the evolution of nanotechnology itself, showcasing groundbreaking innovations in nanochemistry, nanomaterials, and nanotechnology. These meetings are crucial for developing a cohesive Asian network on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, promoting not only scientific advancement but also a cooperative response to global challenges.

AsiaNANO 2024 is more than a conference; it is a beacon for the future of international collaboration in science and technology innovation, aiming to build capacity, refine policy, and create a mutually beneficial environment for all participants. With a special focus on empowering young researchers through the Asian Young Nanoscientists Forum, AsiaNANO 2024 is set to foster new visions and developmental directions, enhancing the collaborative spirit across the continent.
